Dennis Keith Day, 66, of Nederland, Texas passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at Cascades Nursing Home in Port Arthur with his loving family at his side.
Dennis was born on December 8, 1956, in Texas City, Texas to Eunice Ruth Lynd Day and Joseph Eugene Day, Sr. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson in 1975 and attended Lamar University in Beaumont. Dennis was a retired operator at Valero. He grew up in the Baptist faith and he and his family attended Memorial Baptist Church in Port Arthur for many years. Dennis had many hobbies including golf, racquetball, pool, fishing and sailing. He loved anything competitive with friends and family. Dennis also liked camping, water skiing and snow skiing.
Survivors include his wife of eight years, Wanda Clark Day of Nederland; his mother, Eunice Ruth Walden of Nederland; daughters, Denise Day of Bridge City and Amber Bruno and her husband Jude of Vinton, Louisiana; step-children, Hannah Self and her husband Destrey of Lufkin and Hadden Lummus of Hemphill, Texas; brothers, Joseph Eugene Day and his wife Belinda of Livingston, Texas, Mark Steven Day and his wife Karen of Colmesneil; sister, Marla Ruth Miller and her husband Glenn of Hemphill, Texas; grandchildren, Hunter Day of Bridge City and Luca Bruno of Vinton; step-grandchildren, Ainsley Self of Lufkin and Haddleigh Lummus of Hemphill; numerous nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.
Dennis was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Eugene Day, Sr. and step-father, Jerry Siglar Walden.
A gathering of friends and family will take place from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 8, 2023, at Melancon Funeral Home in Nederland, Texas. Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Melancon Funeral Home. Graveside services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 8, 2023, at Egypt Cemetery in Colmesneil, Texas.
