Derrell Wayne White, Sr., 77, of Port Arthur, Texas passed away November 12, 2013 at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas in Port Arthur. He was born in Port Arthur on January 14, 1936 to the late Francis and Gladys Ellis White. He retired as a manager for Sears in Port Arthur after 36 years of service. Derrell served his country proudly in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a Merchant Marine.
Funeral services will be held at Melancon’s Funeral Home on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, November 15, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Derrell is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Mary White of Port Arthur; daughters, Dolly Norton and her husband, David of Port Neches, Jeannie Swanzy and her husband, Kelly of Nederland, and Kathryn Pressler of Port Neches; sons, Derrell W. White, Jr. and his wife, April of Arnaudville and Aaron White and his wife, Denise of Port Neches; his brother, Jimmy White and his wife, Barbara of Groves; grandchildren, Heather Vasut and her husband, Tony, Ryan Norton, Jessica Gentry and her husband, Bubba, Shad, Michael, and Eric Swanzy, Amber Cazarez and her husband, Julio, Autumn, the late Austin, and Noah White, Cody Miller, and Victoria and Zachary White; and great-grandson, Lil Julio Cazarez.
