Diane Provost Drummond

November 22, 1938 — January 21, 2022

Diane Provost Drummond 83, cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed peacefully into the hands of the God she so loved and worshiped on Jan 21, 2022. Diane was born to O‘Neil and Billie Provost. She married Vernon Drummond, who preceded her in death in 2009. Diane attended Bishop Byrne High School. She was an active member of St. Charles Catholic Church before moving to Baton Rouge in 2017.

She believed in starting each day with God at daily mass and devoted her whole life to sharing her love of the Scriptures. She studied theology with Vernon through the University of Dallas in the diaconate program. She taught Religious education for over 35 years before becoming a Director of Religious Education at St. Peters in Groves and in Roswell New Mexico. She was actively involved in many church programs to share her faith: Religious Education teacher for over 30 years, Pre Cana, One in the Lord, Charismatic Renewal, RCIA, parish prayer meeting leader in four parishes, Family Life, Cursillo retreats, and ACTS retreats. Diane was also passionate about taking care of the elderly and poor, and spent many years visiting nursing homes, volunteering at the Hospitality Center and helping anyone in need. She also enjoyed sculpting, bird watching and spending time with her family.

Diane is survived by Derick and Cindy Drummond, Dean and Joy Drummond, Doug and Sylvia Drummond and Duane and Sherri Drummond; her grandchildren Sarah and Daniel Mack, Matthew and Kristie Drummond, Doran and Aimee Drummond, Karrah and Russ Noles; Dylan Drummond, Lauren Drummond, David Drummond, Grace Drummond and Jonathan Drummond. Great grandchildren are Colbey Drummond, Brady Drummond, Charlie Mack, Spencer Noles, Driver Drummond, Elliott Mack, Davis Noles and Bankston Noles. She is also survived by her siblings, Julie Provost, Paula Shaw, O’Neil Provost, Jr., Margo Pluta, Craig Provost and Toni Provost. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers David Provost and Giles Provost, her sister Gwen Carona, and granddaughter Abigail Drummond.

The family would like to extend a special appreciation to Rhonda Hereford for her unending love and care of our mother as well as Pinnacle Hospice Care for their comfort and reassurance.

A gathering of friends and family will be held on Sunday evening, January 23, 2022 at Melancon's Funeral Home in Nederland from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Christian Vigil at 6:00 p.m. A time of gathering for food and fellowship will be offered at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church Parish Center on Monday, January 24, 2022 and will begin at 11:30 a.m. before the Funeral Mass. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday afternoon, January 24, 2022 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Port Neches at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves.
