Don Roy East, 92, reached the end of his earthly journey on March 24, 2024, at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont, Texas. He was born on March 20, 1932, in Port Arthur, Texas. He was the son of Elvin Franklin East and Myrhl Woodall East and was the youngest of their nine children.
Don's life was marked by significant milestones and contributions. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1951 before courageously joining the United States Marine Corps to serve his country during the Korean conflict. After honorable discharge in 1953, he started a career as an Insulator at Texaco Incorporation, dedicating decades of hard work until his well-deserved retirement in 1987.
A man deeply rooted in faith, Don was a devout member of Grace Baptist Church for over seventy years. His unwavering commitment to his Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ, shone brightly throughout his life. "I've lived a good life," he would often say, reflecting his gratitude and contentment with the path he walked. His family finds solace in knowing that he now rests in eternal peace.
Don leaves behind a legacy cherished by many. He is survived by his wife Lona Zane East of Port Neches, TX, they would have celebrated their seventieth wedding anniversary on April 30th. his twin daughters: Donna Crawford and husband Russell of The Villages, FL; Danna Perello of Port Neches, TX; son, Bobby East and wife Carol of Lipan, TX; along with six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren who will always carry his memory in their hearts.
While we mourn the loss of someone dear to us, we his family, are thankful and praise God for such a blessing and for the assurance that he will "dwell in the house of the Lord forever."
The visitation for Don Roy East will be held on April 1st, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves. The funeral service will commence at 11:00 AM at the same location followed by final goodbyes as we honor his legacy. Officiating will be Dr. Phil Sigman. Burial will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Grace Baptist Church in Groves, Texas.
