Don Cuong Nguyen, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2025, in Beaumont, Texas, at the age of 75. Born on May 27, 1950, in Bình Thuận, Vietnam, Don brought joy to those around him with his warm smile and easy-going nature.
For ten years, Don was the proud owner of a restaurant, where his laughter and kindness made every patron feel like family. His commitment to his work was only rivaled by his dedication to his community, as he was a devoted parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Port Arthur.
Don was known for his generous spirit and selflessness, qualities that endeared him to many. He loved tinkering and fixing things in his spare time, turning everyday moments into cherished memories for his family. His greatest joy came from spending time with his loved ones, always eager to lend a hand to those in need. The profound love he had for his family, both in the United States and Vietnam, was a testament to his character; he was always ready to assist them however he could.
Don is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Chuoc Thi Nguyen of Nederland. He leaves behind two sons, Tony Nguyen and his wife, Emily Beard, of Nederland, and Kenny Nguyen and his wife, Vy Nguyen, of Lumberton. He was a proud grandfather to Skyla Nguyen and Philip Nguyen, and a caring brother to Hung Nguyen of Port Neches Groves and Tam Nguyen of Washington.
Mr. Nguyen was preceded in death by his parents, Kim Van Nguyen and Lan Nguyen, and his cherished daughter, Khiem Thu Nguyen. His legacy of love and kindness will continue to resonate within the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
The Nguyen family will welcome friends and family for a series of prayer services on September 17, 18, and 19, 2025, each starting at 5:00 PM, held at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home located at 1605 Avenue H, Nederland, TX 77627. A visitation will take place on September 19, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the same location. A Mass honoring Don will be celebrated on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 3706 Woodrow Dr, Port Arthur, TX 77642.
