My condolences for anyone who loved Donny. I met Donny through Jana. When I met him, Donny told me how extremely happy he was to have found Jana. You could see in there face when they looked at each other. Donny kept us laughing and catered to anything we needed. He will be missed tremendously.

I am not a life long friend of Donny's, didn't go to combat with him during my time in service, nor a family member. However, I considered Donny a big part of my family. He was welcome in our home for a good chunk of time as he transitioned from the Army to life. He was that fun and goofy uncle to my boys and to my step-kids. They loved him. He was a friend, Sherri Keene to my wife at the time too. We were oddly alike Donny and I in the good and the bad. He loved his family all of them. He talked about his mom, Mary Vidrine-Toney, regularly. He loved you so much. (God bless you ma'am and please accept my sincere condolences). He shined when he'd bring Tabatha Kotlarz and the girls to conversations (We got your back girl). I had the good fortune to have met and gotten to know you Tabatha Kotlarz you were his rock. We spent a lot of time with Logan, his awesome son who is a spitting image of him, and some time with Brena Andrews (Brena you're not far so say the word and we will be there) while he was here in Washington. Donny is funny as hell, kind, generous, loving and so smart. He was so goofy all the time and then would whip out some crazy intellectual genius from I don't know where. I swear he is a savant at math and history. He was an inspiration to me and is a large reason I am the man and father I am today. Honestly, Donny saved my ass many times. To Sami Abdulbari and his band of battle buddies, thanks for bringing him here for the time I got to spend with him. I know he loved and respected all his bothers. Too all that are blessed to have been in his life (even some that were short lived) or family we were the lucky ones. Donny Romero is one of the greats. My kids and I will never forget you Donny Romero. Tear it up for us up there and keep our place! We will be looking for you!

I remember when Donny came to my section from Korea, he was like hey sarge I got in trouble in Korea but I want to get my stripes back. I looked at him and said to myself, this boy here is a trip but I got you. After this we became very good friends because we would always talk about Houston Texas where I was a recruiter. He was a joy to be around and I would always tell him the real reason Jaguar was use for. I wish I would have called him more and maybe meet up with him but that's life. I hope he is at ease now. See you Donny one day brother. SSG Bryant Tolbert, Be easy my friend.

I remember Donny, from our days with 5-3. He was always so kind and polite. We had a Trunk or Treat one year. We had just moved the unit over to North Fort. He made it a point to come over and I reduce me to his wife and new baby. He was so proud. I will always cherish that. He was a good guy, and he will be missed.
