Donald Edgar LaBorde

1939 ∼ 2012

Donald Edgar LaBorde passed away on Monday, February 20, 2012. He was born on June 20, 1939 to the late Winnie (Rachal) LaBorde and Edgar Joseph LaBorde. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Devenzio LaBorde; two sons, Bart LaBorde of Winnie, TX and Shaun LaBorde and wife, Diana of Nederland, TX; three grandchildren, Austin LaBorde an Mason LaBorde of Winnie , and Camille LaBorde of Nederland; brother, Huron LaBorde and wife, Billie of Little Rock, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his sister, Zephyr LaBorde Ryan of Lima, Ohio. He was the Father who always had time for his children and their friends. He was the "coach" for life with the Falcon Jr. League football team, the Groves National Little League for both Bart and Shaun for over ten years and the Groves Pony Colt League. His teams learned to be prepared for the game and then the game of life. His professional life began as a welder at Gulfport Shipbuilding and grew into his professional life as construction manager for many large drilling companies, and ending his career with Beacon Construction in Orange, TX. There are not many men left in the rig building business, that know as much as he did from the ground up. He was an avid duck hunter learning from his Dad and then passing that love to his boys. There was always, room for one more at the duck camp in Sabine. We will celebrate his life with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 24, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Port Neches with Reverend Monsignor Bennie Patillo officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park under the direction of Levingston Funeral Home in Groves. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday evening from 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

My sympathies go out to Brenda, Bart, and Shaun. I had the privilege to hunt with Donald, his Dad (a hoot-and-a half!), Bart, Shaun, and Leo Simpson at the old Knight's Lake Hunting Club, west of Sabine Pass, back in the 70's and early 80's. What a fantastic experience...my good ole days! Take care of yourselves, you guys. George
