Donald Laird Tingen, 85, of Nederland, Texas passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at ChristusSt. Mary39s Hospital in Port Arthur. He was born on March 17, 1926 in Sanford, North Carolina to the late Guy and Alice Gray Tingen. He retired as a line foreman for Gulf States Utilities Company, now Entergy. He served his country proudly in the U. S. Navy. He is a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Nederland.A gathering of family and friends will be held Sunday, June 5, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Melancon39s Funeral Home, 1605 Avenue H in Nederland. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Monday, June 6, 2011 at 10:00 a.m., Rev. Kevin Otto officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens of Jefferson County in Nederland.Donald is survived by his wife, Barbara Killebrew Tingen of Nederland daughter, Vickie Sauerwein and husband Drew of Nederland son, Dale Tingen and wife Janet of Kingwood 4 grandchildren, Eric Sauerwein, Andrea Sauerwein, Stephen Tingen, and Justin Tingen sister, Gwendolyn Moring and husband Bill of Houston and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents.Memorials may be given to the Wesley United Methodist Church in Nederland Scholarship Fund or the American Cancer Society, 755 S. 11th St. 212, Beaumont, TX 77701.

Mr. Tingen was a wonderful neighbor and friend. He was always giving us a helping hand in the yard and sharing his produce from his garden. He gave us laughs and wise advice so many times. Our family will greatly miss him. My prayers and thoughts are with you Barbara and Vickie and your family. If you should need any help in anyway Mrs. Barbara, please call on us.

Don was an important part of our family. Every time we had visits with him, he always made us laugh and always wanted to help do something around the house.We have loving memories to carry us on.Our thoughts and prayers are with Barbara, Dale, Vickie and their families. God Bless.

Im sure Don will be sorely missed. I seen Don several times in years past. He was always a pleasure to be around and talk to. I worked for him on a line crew for Gulf States in the early 1980s. He was a good teacher and I learned allot from him. He was at the top of my list for line foremen I wanted to work for.

Don will be sorely missed We enjoyed traveling with him and Barbara, and enjoyed every visit to their home. We pray for Barbara and the rest of the family, asking for strength to endure the days ahead knowing this is a great loss.
