Donald R. Rowland, 84, of Nederland, TX, passed away November 14, 2015. He was born May 25, 1931 to the late Clyde Rowland and Vera Leona Mason. Donald proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force and retired from Gulf Oil Port Arthur Refinery. He was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Nederland, where he faithfully served in many capacities.
Donald enjoyed life fully. From simple routines, like Sunday trips to the park with grandkids, to attending a variety of school performances to video his grandchildren shine, to traveling across the country on long trips with his wife – he had joy and appreciated the beauty of God’s work! Donald’s patient, peaceful nature, combined with skill, made him a good golfer. He was happy a pie on a golf course, with a thermos of coffee; especially if it was a “mighty fine day” outside. Like most angels, Donald or Pawpaw, as he was known by so many, also had wings and could fly. He earned his pilot license and even owned his own plane, for a time.
Put simply, to know him was to love him.
Donald is survived by wife Therese Rowland, of sixty years; son Charles Rowland and wife Gay of Port Neches, TX, and their children Julia Rowland and Grant Rowland; daughter Donna Concienne and husband Mark of Broken Arrow, OK, their children Dana Williams and husband Preston, Kayla Klein and husband Kory, Marcus Concienne and wife Laura, and Monica Concienne, and their grandchildren Paige, Peyton, Brianna, and Andrew Williams and Kamryn, Kade, and Kyle Ann Klein; daughter Rhonda Aguillard and husband Kent of Nederland, TX, their children Garrett Aguillard and wife Amanda, Kimberly Aguillard, Allison Waite and husband Josh, Aaron Aguillard, Wade Aguillard and wife Lindsey, and their grandchildren Katelyn and Claire Aguillard and Henry Waite; sisters Florence Pickering and husband Alvin of Kirbyville, TX, and Charlene Hecht and husband Bill of Nederland, TX.
