Dot Hall, 94, of Port Neches, Texas joyfully entered into Eternal Life on July 1, 2012. Dot was born on March 27, 1916, in Newnan, Georgia to John Daniel Bearden and Mamie Morrow Bearden. She married James T. Hall in 1938. They had two children, James Daniel (Danny) Hall and Sandra Hope Hall. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mamie Bearden; her husband, James T. Hall; her daughter, Sandra Hope Hall; and her brother, James C. Bearden. She is survived by her son, Danny Hall and wife, Barbara of Beaumont; 2 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by her sister, Virginia Dukus of Opelika, Alabama; and her brother, Charles Goree and wife, Edna of Winter Park, Florida. She is also survived by innumerable treasured friends. Dot has been and active member of First United Methodist Church of Port Neches since 1940. She was an active member of the Wesley Sunday School Class and the United Methodist Women. Dot began and ended each day in prayer. She often stated that her favorite times to pray were at sunrise and sunset. As a young woman, Dot attended the University of Georgia on a Journalism scholarship. Those who knew her knew that she never lost her creativity and ability to be very articulate on any subject. She was very proud of becoming a "Native Texan". Even though she was born in Georgia, she said that she moved to Texas at an early age, and outlived anyone who could remember that she was not born here. Dot's life should be viewed by all as a lesson in faith and patience. There will be a void in all of our lives that can be filled by no other person; and Heaven is truly a brighter place today because of her presence. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 6, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church of Port Neches. Burial will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park under the direction of Levingston Funeral Home in Port Neches. A visitation for family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Friday at the church.
