Dorothy was born in Starks, Louisiana, on April 1, 1939, to Mitchell Johnson and Clara Barnes-Johnson.
She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She loved her family very much and will be immensely missed. Dot graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1957. She met the love of her life, Wallace Barbay, and married him in June of 1957 at St. James Catholic Church. At the time of Wallace’s death in 2019, the couple had shared sixty-two years of marriage. Dorothy has countless friends from her Baptist childhood and her parish of St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church, where she has been a member for over fifty years. Mom took great pride in her appearance and received many compliments that she did not look her age of eighty-four. She loved quilting, antiquing, but most of all, treasured her time with loved ones. She loved her time with her son, Mark Barbay, and his wife, Phyllis Enright. Dorothy loved her daughter, Julie Borque and her husband, Brian Borque and has resided in Sugar Land, Texas with them, off and on throughout the years. Dot absolutely adored her two grandsons and their wives and was beyond proud of them. Her oldest grandson, Dr. Kyle Borque, and his wife, Emily Webster reside in Houston, Texas. Her youngest grandson, Craig Borque, and his wife Molly Borque reside in Sugar Land, Texas. Dot was able to attend both of their college graduations from Texas A & M University and The University of Texas at Austin. Too many to name, Dot also treasured her nieces, nephews, and cousins. Dot will be missed beyond imagination by hundreds of family members and friends, including her two sisters, Anna Collida and Judi Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Barbay, her parents, and her sister, Glenda Buxton.
