Dorothy was born in Starks, Louisiana, on April 1, 1939, to Mitchell Johnson and Clara Barnes-Johnson.

She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She loved her family very much and will be immensely missed. Dot graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1957. She met the love of her life, Wallace Barbay, and married him in June of 1957 at St. James Catholic Church. At the time of Wallace’s death in 2019, the couple had shared sixty-two years of marriage. Dorothy has countless friends from her Baptist childhood and her parish of St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church, where she has been a member for over fifty years. Mom took great pride in her appearance and received many compliments that she did not look her age of eighty-four. She loved quilting, antiquing, but most of all, treasured her time with loved ones. She loved her time with her son, Mark Barbay, and his wife, Phyllis Enright. Dorothy loved her daughter, Julie Borque and her husband, Brian Borque and has resided in Sugar Land, Texas with them, off and on throughout the years. Dot absolutely adored her two grandsons and their wives and was beyond proud of them. Her oldest grandson, Dr. Kyle Borque, and his wife, Emily Webster reside in Houston, Texas. Her youngest grandson, Craig Borque, and his wife Molly Borque reside in Sugar Land, Texas. Dot was able to attend both of their college graduations from Texas A & M University and The University of Texas at Austin. Too many to name, Dot also treasured her nieces, nephews, and cousins. Dot will be missed beyond imagination by hundreds of family members and friends, including her two sisters, Anna Collida and Judi Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Barbay, her parents, and her sister, Glenda Buxton.

In lieu of flowers, family requests that donations be made to St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church in Port Neches, Texas

I met GG when I taught with Julie at Settlers Way. She sometimes came to school to visit with the team and then I got to know her better at get togethers that Julie & Brian hosted at their home. GG was so very warm and welcoming all the time. She showed a keen interest in learning about you in a very caring way and was so proud of her family and grandkids. She will be missed very much but we can all remember the positive impact she had on our lives. Take comfort in knowing that her strong faith has led her to eternal life with God and a reunion with Wallace. I am praying for your family that you will feel peace and healing in your hearts. We feel very fortunate to have met and spent some time with Julie and Mark’s mother last year. Dot was a lovely lady who we had hope would see more of in the PNW this summer. As it is we will continue to enjoy memories of Dot through the stories Mark and Phyllis will be sharing. With much love and our deepest condolences. Jim Grieser and Linda Depner

I met Dot and Wallace when their son, Mark entered the third grade at St. Elizabeth Catholic School in Pt Neches. They were excellent parents, loving and caring about their children’s education. The world has lost an exemplary Christian woman and an exemplary Christian man in Wallace in 2019 , which I did not know about. Mark and his sister, their spouses, their children and their their children and all other relatives, and friends know what they have lost but remember you all will be reunited, in heaven, someday. My deepest condolences to all. May Dot Rest In Peace beside her beloved Wallace. Sincerely, Marks 3rd grade teacher, Ms.Duanne

Aunt Dot was not only my Aunt but she was also my Godmother. I have so many memories of spending the night with Julie (Julie and I were same age) and her cooking us breakfast and whatever else we wanted. She was such a giving and loyal person and would always be there for you when you needed her. I have 4 sisters and 1 brother and she loved us as if we were her own. She kept up with our kids lives and our grandchildrens lives. She was one of a kind and I will probably never know anyone else like her. Aunt Dot, I will love and remember you forever. Your niece and Goddaughter Pam!
