Dorothy Estelle Bodden, 98, of Nederland, Texas passed away on Friday, December 26, 2014 at Cypress Glen Nursing Home in Port Arthur. She was born on May 14, 1916 in French Harbor, Honduras to the late Elton and Miriam Wood. Dorothy lived in the Port Arthur, Nederland area for 68 years and was a homemaker.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Anna Smith, Dorothy Davis, and Sandra “Beth” Willson and husband, John T.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Constance Wood; and several nieces and nephews. Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Siebert Bodden; six siblings; and niece and nephew.
Dorothy loved her Lord and enjoyed singing hymns. She would speak fondly of church programs as a child, singing solos and reciting scripture with her siblings. Dorothy sang almost every day until the Lord took her home. We can now be assured that she has a new heavenly body and is singing with the heavenly choir.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at Melancon’s Funeral Home, 1605 Avenue H, Nederland, TX 77627 at 1:30 p.m. with the service to follow immediately at 2:00 p.m., with the Reverend Carl Durden officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves, TX.
