Dorothy “Dottie” Bridegam, 77, of Port Neches passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2019. She was born August 12, 1941 in Gladewater, Texas to the late John Cosby Speir and Claudie Young Speir. She worked as an elementary school librarian for 42 years, 21 of which were with the Port Arthur I.S.D. and 21 with the Port Neches I.S.D. She was also a dedicated member of Grace Baptist Church in Groves.
A gathering of the family and friends will be Wednesday, July 10 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland. Her funeral service will be 10:00 am. Thursday, July 11, 2019 also at the funeral home. The graveside service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, July 12, 2019 at the Glade Creek Cemetery in Gilmer, Texas under the direction of Melancon’s Funeral Home.
Dottie is survived by husband, Craig Bridegam of Port Neches; her daughter, Misti Peppard and her husband, Spence and their daughter, Morgan Peppard of White House, Tenn.; her son, Brint Bridegam and his wife, Gidget and their children, Tyler and Kaitlyn of Orange; her sisters, Aleta McFadin of Walls, Mississippi, and Elaine Reeves and her husband, Thomas of Gilmer; her brother, Wayne Speir and his wife, Betty Joyce of Tyler.
In addition to her parents, Dottie is preceded in death by her brother-in-law, George McFadin.
