Dorothy Mae Champagne, 90, of Nederland passed away Monday, June 22, 2020. Dorothy was born August 7, 1929 in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana to the late Desoto and Alita Breaux Richard. Dorothy was a very active member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Nederland. She also worked for B.F. Goodrich as a secretary in the Lab. But she most enjoyed staying at home and taking care of her family. She took pride in making all of her children’s clothing.
A gathering of the family and friends will be Friday, June 26, 2020 from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. follow by a Mass of Christian Burial at Melancon’s Funeral Home with Msgr. Dan Malain officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Karen Milliff of New Waverly, Pamela Farinella and her husband Justin of Beaumont, Janice Burkes and her husband William of Beaumont, Randall Champagne of Houston, Laurie Watson and her husband Jim of Spring, Kevin Champagne and his wife Cheri of Garland, Lisa Johnson and her husband Daniel of Nederland, and Kristi Champagne of McKinney. Also surviving is her 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, also her husband, Arthur James Champagne Sr., her son Arthur James Champagne Jr., her sister Gertrude Champagne, and brother Ronald Richard.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting all memorial contributions be given to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
