Dorothy Bergeron Cook, 88, of Houston, Texas, passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2023, in Round Rock, Texas.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 28, 2023, at 2:30 p.m. at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves. Officiating will be Deacon Willie Posey. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves.
Visitation will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 28, 2023, at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves.
She was born in Port Arthur, Texas on August 11, 1934. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School, Port Arthur, Texas, in January 1953. She was a member of the Red Hussars Drum and Bugle Corp. She put herself through business school by working at KPAC radio station in Port Arthur. She held many positions during her working career at Merchant’s National Bank, Benckenstein & Norvell, A&M Consolidated Independent School, Simmons Associates Architects, and Global Marine International Drilling Co. She retired from Global Marine in 2002. She volunteered at the Alley Theater, Jones Hall, Children’s Theater and Wortham Theater Center in Houston for over 20 years. She was a lifetime member of the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo wherein she volunteered on the Breeder’s Greeter and Ladies Box Seat committees for over 40 years. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority and was also a member of the Trinacria Italian Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony J. and Jennie Turano Bergeron, sisters Rose Marie Bergeron, Virgina Grado, brother Phillip Bergeron and grandchildren Levi Bergeron and Shayla Bergeron.
She is survived by her two children and their spouses, Mike and Jill Forse and Lori and Nathan Mitchell along with two nephews she considered her own children, Jeremy and Sara Buentello-Bergeron and Bryan and Amy Bergeron. Six grandchildren, Amber and Shawn McCullough, Chelsea and Chad Barbre, Zach Mitchell, Cody Mitchell and Riana Dalton, Gavin Bergeron, and Trinity Bergeron. Six great- grandchildren, Taylor, Gracie, Logan, Patricija, Brady and Bella, and one great-great-granddaughter, Willow. Sisters, Shirley Landrum, Mary Joyce Dorsey, Carolyn Brantley (Danny), Jeanette Hudson (Larry) and brothers, Anthony Bergeron, and Gerald Bergeron (Carolyn).
