Dorothy "Dottie" Nell Cosatt

July 10, 1924 — June 13, 2019

Dorothy “Dottie” Nell Cosatt

Dorothy Cosatt was born to Emma Trilica and Henry Kubala on July 10, 1924.
She had one child, Denise Fernandez and her husband, George and one granddaughter, Carrie Piletere Hackbarth.
Dottie devoted her entire life to her daughter and especially her granddaughter. She spent her younger days working at Coleman Bernard, The Shipyard, J&L electric and Sabine propeller as a book keeper and caring for her husband that was wounded in the World War II. Both Dorothy and Jack opened up their house every weekend to all the kids from school, they were like their second parents. After retirement she cleaned houses for prominent attorneys and CPA’s in the mid county area.
Her favorite times were spent “running the roads” with her granddaughter, shopping at the mall, going to Casa Ole and having her favorite waitresses Lourdes Alvarez and Juanita Martin wait on her. She was known for loving her Coca Cola, chocolate twinkies, collecting Capodimonte flowers and playing the penny machines at Delta Downs.
To know Dorothy was to love her. She had friends everywhere she went and no one ever believed her age due to how active she remained. She lived for her family especially her four great-grandchildren, Carter and Camryn Piletere and Harrison and Dawsyn Hackbarth. She loved sports of any kind but enjoyed watching her great grandson play baseball more than anything.
She loved her sitters, Wanda Jean Thomas and Ann Brown. These women cared for her and gave her love and assistance with dignity. Thank you to Home Care Elite and BEST Hospice for all the amazing care you gave. And a SPECIAL thank you to Dr. McMahon, Melissa McKey and Heart of Texas hospice.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday, June 17, 2019 at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with funeral services to follow at 1:00 p.m., Rev. Cazzy Francis officiant. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves.
