Dorothy-Lee Huckaby, 86, of Nederland passed away Saturday, September 6, 2014 at Oak Grove Nursing Home in Groves. Dorothy-Lee was born December 6, 1927 in Orange to the late Charles Edwin Freeman and Gladys Thelma Colburn Freeman. She retired as a Medical Records Transcriber and a member of First Baptist Church in Nederland.
Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland with interment to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Bridge City. A gathering of her family and friends will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Dorothy-Lee was preceded in death by her parents; also her sister, Mizelle Glaze. She is survived by her daughters, Gladys Marie Johnson and her husband, Ray of Austin, and Bonnie Dee Derickson of Nederland; her son, Johnny Lee Huckaby and his wife, Jeanette also of Nederland; seven grandchildren, Joel Downey, Audrey Huckaby Hopper, Lesli Johnson, Brian Downey, Jarrod Johnson, Ashley Huckaby Damron, and Amy Huckaby Armstrong; three great grandchildren, Gage Downey, Kinlee Downey, and Vivienne Hopper.
The family would like to extend their love and appreciation to Oak Grove Nursing Facility and Harbor Hospice for their care giving of their mother during her time of need.
