Dorothy Buchala Litvik, 91, of Nederland, Texas passed away on Monday, March 6, 2023 at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont, Texas. Dorothy was born on December 6, 1931 in San Felipe, Texas to the late William C. Buchala and Victoria Cieslewicz Buchala.
Dorothy grew up on a beautiful cotton farm in San Felipe, Texas where she acquired a strong work ethic and learned to be independent. Growing up, Dorothy was fluent in English, Czech and Polish languages. Dorothy graduated from Sealy High School in 1950. One of Dorothy’s favorite hobbies in her spare time was singing. She sang through the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) at wedding showers, etc. Several times she was chosen to sing solos. She met the love of her life, George, while attending a dance. They were married in October, 1954, and resided in Boling, Texas. In 1958 George’s career brought them to Nederland where they raised 3 daughters and 1 son. . Dorothy was a devout and faithful parishioner of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Nederland. She loved animals of all kinds, especially dogs, cats, and birds. Dorothy enjoyed singing, and enjoyed watching the Wheel of Fortune nightly. In her spare time she liked to cook, bake, and can vegetables from George’s garden. Dorothy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend that lived her life for the Lord and her family. She will be truly missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing her.
Those left behind to cherish Dorothy’s memory are her daughter, Cindy Allen and her husband, Ricky; her daughter, Judy DeCuir; her son, Kenny Litvik and his wife, Amie; her daughter, Linda Aldridge and her husband, Fernando Martinez; her grandson, Matt Allen and Allison Lee; her grandson, Evan Litvik; her granddaughter, Victoria Penrod and her husband, Davis; her grandson USMC LCPL Gabriel Aldridge; her grandson, Chris Aldridge; her great grandson, Theodore “Theo” Penrod; her sister, Rubie Buchala; her brother, Clem Buchala; her brother, David Buchala and his wife, Dorothy; her sister, Lorraine Buchala; her sister, Connie Mock and her husband, Walter; her brother, Terry Buchala; and numerous loving family members and friends.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her loving husband, George Litvik; her parents, William and Victoria Buchala; her brother, Timothy Buchala, her sister in law, Leona Buchala; her grandsons, Ryan Allen and Gabriel Allen; her niece, Nancy Buchala; and her nephew, David Buchala.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful and caring staff of Holland Place Senior Living for the exceptional care and support given to Dorothy during the time she spent at the facility.
A gathering of family and friends to pray the Rosary will be held at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland, Texas on Sunday, March 12, 2023 and will begin at 5:00 p.m. A visitation time will be held at Melancon’s from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. following the Rosary on Sunday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Nederland on Monday, March 13, 2023 and will begin at 11:00 a.m. Interment will immediately follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches, Texas.
