Dorothy Allen Meents, 91, of Port Neches, Texas passed away Friday, May 1, 2015 at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas in Port Arthur. Dorothy was born December 19, 1923 in Groves, Texas to Roland Allen, Sr. and Dorothea Eagan Allen. She was a lifelong area resident and member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Port Neches. Dorothy retired from New York Life Insurance Company as an executive secretary, after retiring she went to work for Huntsman as a contract employee. She was also a member of Royal Neighbors and The Delphain Society. Dorothy was an avid gardener, working in her flower beds for hours. She loved reading books, baking and playing bridge. She made friends wherever she went and loved her family dearly. She loved her Church and Church Family and was an active member until recently. She will be missed terribly, but we know she is in Heaven with God, family and friends celebrating a beautiful and well-lived life. Flowers are welcome, or as an alternative, donations in her memory to Trinity Presbyterian Church or Effie Hebert Library, both in Port Neches, Texas, will be greatly appreciated. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wendell E. Meents; one sister and three brothers. Survivors include her daughter, Victoria Beryl Allen of Houston; two sons, Scot Allen Meents of Port Neches, Mark Douglas Meents and wife Cathy of Houston; step-daughter, Margaret Toups of Beaumont; grandchildren, Rodney Carl Crow and wife Shannon, Christopher Eagan McGullam and wife Heather, Rachel Meents, Lauren Meents, Debra LeBlanc Collins and husband; great-grandchildren, Taylor Nicole Crow, Bailey Marie Crow, Blakely Mosshart, Justice Aileen McGullam, Meagan Amanda Collins, Morgan Frances Collins; great-great grandchild, Acelyn Marie Crow; numerous nieces and nephews. A visitation for family and friends will begin at 9:30 a.m., Friday, May 8, 2015 at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 805 Sierra Drive, Port Neches, TX followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Margaret Desmond officiating. Burial will be at Oak Bluff Memorial Park under the direction of Levingston Funeral Home in Groves.
