* Psalms 116:15 Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints. Singing with the angels won't be nearly enough for Dorothy Norton, who passed from this world to live with her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, March 18, 2015. She'll have much to do. Dorothy will begin her new and forever life sitting at the feet of her Lord, asking questions and seeking answers. She was a lifelong learner, studying art at Lamar College- PA, as well as basic computer in Continuing Education classes. She graduated from Port Neches-Groves High School in 1944. Last month she was planning to return to school for training on her new scanner. Devoted to her Church, Dorothy attended mass faithfully, served on the Immaculate Conception Altar Society, and prayed fervently for all her family and friends. Dorothy will spend eternity preparing celestial feasts for the saints. In Heaven as on earth, her specialty Cajun dishes will be her love offering, served from her heart with gratitude for all God's abundant blessings for her. Whether cooking for herself or her large family, every meal was a party. Dorothy will joyfully paint more wondrous landscapes in her new home. Besides studying art at Lamar-PA, she was a member of Nederland Art Guild, Port Arthur Art Assn., Texas Art Museum, and the winner of awards at local art shows, including one of her own in 2013. She studied with Dalhart Windberg, Bill Black, James Black, Tom Windham, to name a few. As proud as Dorothy was of these accomplishments, none meant more to than her family. She loved her five children: Richard and wife Janette, Robert and wife Glenda, David and wife Dolly, Patty, and Danny and wife Terri. She adored her ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. As each of their spouses entered into her family, she welcomed them as her own. Today Dorothy is rejoicing to see her beloved parents, Amy and Alphonse Serrette, and her husband of many years, H. C. Norton who preceded her. Visitation will be held at Levingston Funeral Home from 5-7 p. m on Friday, March 20. Funeral services will be held at Immaculate Conception at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 21 and officiated by Father J.C. Coon. Those who wish can make love offerings to Immaculate Conception Church or another charity of your heart.
