Dossie LaBove

1925 ∼ 2025

Dossie LaBove, beloved matriarch of her family and cherished member of her community, passed away on June 25, 2025, at the age of 100 in Port Arthur, Texas, where she had resided since 1944. She was born on February 13, 1925, in Erath, Vermillion Parish, Louisiana, to Chalice and Elda Landry.

Dossie's life was marked by profound dedication to her loved ones and a spirit that radiated warmth and kindness. Dossie spent her life dedicated to helping others. She worked at Mission's Attic as a cashier, which showed her love for people and compassion to help others. In her spare time, you would find her enjoying a good book.

Dossie loved being a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother and thought the world of her family. She is survived by her son, Jerry LaBove and his wife, Sharon, of Port Arthur, who carry forth her values and cherished memories. Her legacy continues in her grandchildren, Chad LaBove and his wife, Lori, of Port Neches, and Jamey LaBove of Port Arthur. The joy of Dossie's life is magnified through her great-grandchildren, Daviss Hebert and her husband, Jeremy, Bailee LaBove, and Jacie LaBove, along with two great-great-grandchildren, whose laughter and love filled her heart with joy. Dossie is also survived by her sister, Jane Perrin of Erath, Louisiana, and a host of nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.

Dossie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Purvis LaBove, whose memory she cherished throughout her life. She was also predeceased by her brother, Corbet Landry, and sisters, Merdith Dronet and Annie Lou Rodrique, all of whom she held dear.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Dossie LaBove at a visitation to be held on July 5, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home, 1605 Avenue H, Nederland, Texas. followed by a Funeral Service from 10:00 AM, St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church located at 211 Hardy Avenue, Nederland, Texas, 77627. Dossie's life was a testament to love and the bonds we share, and as we gather to honor her memory, may we find comfort in the joy she brought to our lives.

The family would like to offer their thanks to her neighbor, Katrina and all of her caregivers, for their love and support to Dossie.

Mrs. Dossie possessed a lovely spirit. She departs, leaving numerous shattered hearts. I will greatly miss her. We worked together for multiple years at The Mission Attic. She spread happiness and laughter to everyone near her. Over the years, we kept in contact. She was just a phone call away; we could talk for hours. Until we meet again, my dear friend.

Rest in Paradise Mrs. Dossie. Mrs Dossie was a kind, humble, God fearing woman. She would come to her door to speak whenever I would visit my sister (Katrina DeJean). She had such a warm beautiful smile. She’s truly being missed. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. My prayers and condolences to her entire family. To God be the glory for her 100 years of life.

Dossie was very much a part of the Mission's Attic family. Although she hadn't worked for several years, we still have customers ask about her. I enjoyed working with her and having had the pleasure of knowing a very elegant lady. She was loved by all who knew her. RIP my dear friend.
