As a little girl "Mr. Edgar" taught me to observe the beauty of God's creation as we tracked through the dusty, humid, cicada-filled paths of Southeast Texas hunting for butterflies. I think of you any time my children go running through the yard with a net expecting to catch a butterfly (even though ours are usually just the boring white ones). When many adults shoo children away you made me feel special and loved on our adventures, like children must have felt with Jesus. Your children were my childhood playmates and besides thinking it was really cool that you had a huge 8 ball in your front yard, I was also thankful to have a friend with an equally unique last name, although Wolf was much better than Head! As a young woman you and Diana opened your home to our family to mourn together and celebrate the life of my grandma. I appreciated how you made us feel like we weren't imposing and free to use your space as we needed, to be together. Being away from home, your home felt like home. I felt the love of Southern hospitality, or maybe it is just Christian hospitality, while I nibbled on tea cakes and remembered making them with my sweet grandma. Years and distance didn't matter; we were God's family. You were there again with your familiar smile, hugs and jovial demeanor as your friendly voice spoke words of comfort along with Miss Diana and her syrupy Southern sweetness when Grandpa passed a few years later. I didn't know you would be there, but I was glad you were. You've been so encouraging from afar with your positive outlook during the battle of the last year or so. "Another day on top of the grass, enjoying my blessings!" When I heard you had passed from this life it hurt my heart that you are no longer on this Earth, that Miss Diana, Kaylor and Jarrod, Brian and Whitney, and your granddaughter will miss you daily. But, I'm reminded of the promise of Jesus in Matthew 25 and how in my life you have consistently embodied it, and I share in your joy: "34 Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, 36 I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.' 37 Then the righteous will answer him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink?38 And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? 39 And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?' 40 And the King will answer them, 'Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.' Thank you, Mr. Edgar! Our love to your family! Kyle and Jennifer Wilson

It has been many many years but I can still hear him call me "Chief" when I would be over at the house. That acceptance meant so much to me but spoke volumes to the kind of person Edgar was. He is a true definition of an amazing father and loving husband that as both, I will always look up to. I will miss you big "Chief"!
