Edna "Jane" Boudreaux

1942 ∼ 2024

Edna "Jane" Boudreaux

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Edna "Jane" Boudreaux, who departed this life on October 10, 2024, in Port Arthur, Texas, at the age of 82. Born on May 2, 1942, in Santa Anna, Texas. Edna was a beacon of love and light to all who knew her.

For 15 years, Edna dedicated her time and talent to J.C. Penny at Central Mall in Port Arthur, where her vibrant personality and welcoming spirit enriched the lives of both customers and co-workers. A true people person, she embraced her role as a mother-figure to many, always ready with a warm hug for anyone in need. Edna's quick wit and joyous laugh provided joy to those around her, often finding humor in the antics of her beloved family.

Edna's life was characterized by her unwavering love for her family, which knew no bounds. She was devoted to her husband, John Wayne Boudreaux, with whom she shared a beautiful marriage of 65 years. Together they nurtured a loving home filled with cherished memories. Edna leaves behind her beloved daughters, Marie Nichols and her husband, Dan of Nederland, Texas, and Wendy Vickers, also of Nederland; her son, John Wade Boudreaux. Her legacy of love continues through her grandchildren, James Eric Case, Megan Jane Daley, and Corbett Daniel Vickers, along with her great-grandchildren, Dustin Huff, Ashlynn Boudreaux, Bryce Boudreaux, Carson Walker, Addyson Daley, Raylynn Daley, and Rowan Case.

A devoted member of Nederland First Baptist Church, she volunteered her time working with the 18 month to 2 year olds Sunday school. Edna attended Church faithfully until health challenges made it difficult for her to do so. Her passion for music was matched only by her love for dancing, and she found great joy in sharing these interests with family and friends. She also enjoyed playing piano and reading. Edna had an exceptional talent for cooking, always preferring to prepare meals from scratch and imparting this skill to her children — she held a firm stance against prepackaged products, particularly prepackaged gravy mixes.

Edna was preceded in death by her parents, Rex Earl and Dorothy Marie Richardson, who undoubtedly welcomed her as she entered Heaven with open arms. As we remember Edna, we take solace in the love she shared and the laughter she instilled in the hearts of those who knew her. Her spirit will perpetually live on in the countless memories she created and the deep bonds she formed throughout her remarkable life.

I had the great pleasure of working with Jane at JCPenney's. The obituary has it right; she was a mom to many of us. She always had the sweetest demeanor and was a pleasure to talk with.

Marie and Wendy I'm so sorry for y'all's loss and I wish I had known of her passing when it happened. It saddened when I came across her name and breaks my heart. When we were younger we played at y'all's house and every time I saw Jane my first thought was always how strikingly beautiful your mother was. It wasn't until I moved back home to take care of my mother that Jane and I I actually talked. She would see me outside and always had a hello for me and would call me over just to chat and catch up on our lives and those from the neighborhood. It was though these talks that I knew she was a very special person. I got a little glimpse the strength that lied within her. And her smile, she always greeted everyone with a smile that reached her eyes. I was blessed to get to know her as an adult. I'll always remember her with the kindness she showed me. God bless.

I forgot that she had a birthday on May 2nd just like my Dad. Except he was born in 1929.

I worked with Edna, although she went by Jane, for many years at JCPenney's. She was one of the sweetest co-workers that I had ever had and am so sorry to hear of her passing. May she rest in peace.

I grew up near her. Marie and Wendy were friends our family. My Dad enjoyed playing piano like she did. We were lucky to grow up in that time and little corner.

I always think back about our summer trips to Texas to visit Aunt Dorothy and Uncle Rex; Jane and Johnny; Marie and Wendy. I miss those times. No words I say will really ease the pain of losing a Mama, Grandmother, Great Grandmother. It does get a little bit easier as time goes by. I wish I had been able to visit one last time, but time has a way of slipping by quickly in this life. Ya’ll love each other, spend time together. You will be in my prayers. Only our Heavenly Father can provide the comfort you need right now.
