Edward Edgar Hanks of Groves, Texas, passed away at his home on Thursday, September 30, 2010. He was born October 14, 1926 in Sunset, Louisiana to Edgar and Zora Hanks. Edward served in the United States Army at the end of World War II. He was a member of the Asbestos Workers Local 22 for over 30 years, retiring in 1987. He was preceded in death by his son Ronald, granddaughter Kimberly, his mother and father, his brothers, Wilson, Willie, Frank, Alex, Ray, and his sisters Mabel Wright, Helen Brasseaux, and Emma Olivier. Survivors include his wife Doris, son Robert and wife Barbara, son Kevin and wife Anne, daughter Patricia and husband Chris Broussard, daughter Brenda and husband Marc Anderson, sixteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. The family would like to thank Odyssey Health Care of Beaumont and its health care providers for many years of service. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 4, 2010 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Groves with Reverend Monsignor Don Golasinski officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Levingston Funeral Home in Groves. A visitation will be held on Sunday evening from 5:00p.m.-8:00p.m. with a Vigil Service at 6:00p.m. at the funeral home.
