Edward Wayne Seymour, Sr.

1949 ∼ 2023

Edward Wayne Seymour Sr - Died at his home in Nederland early Tuesday morning, March 14- with his wife and children by his side. Edward was born September 11, 1949 - he was 73 - he embraced everyday with great anticipation for what the day would bring.

Edward was an enthusiastic athlete - working out at the Gym - and playing pick up games of basketball at Nederland Rec. Center. He closed his office every day at 3:00 to pick his children from school -and the rest of the day was spent - teaching, coaching and enjoying baseball, football, basketball, and softball with his four children - actually it was play - which is what he lived for.

He was a loving husband to his wife Susan (married over 53 years) - most of all he was Our GOAT - Greatest Of All Time - father to sons Ed Jr., Joshua, Jeremy and daughter Sadie - best of all - and the most important thing to know - his life was one of kindness given to all who passed his way. When you leave this life - the one most important thing to leave is your legacy - the character and kindheartedness - that he accomplished in his life is deeply-rooted in the character of his children, grandchildren and great grandson - as with every parent, you want your legacy to continue on, as it will with his family - with the strength of his legacy his children will now lead their Grandchildren and great grandchildren forward with much eagerness - as we continue - knowing that we had a loving gift from God - How blessed and thankful for all that has been given to us.

Edward, our dad and mostly our Pa Pa is survived by his wife Susan, his son Ed Jr. and wife Priscilla, his son Joshua and wife Jordan, his son Jeremy and wife Angie, his daughter Sadie and husband Kyle Sonnier - and of course his beloved grandchildren, (they number 20) Ed III, Andrew and wife Anna, Beau, and Hattie Seymour and her son Archie Broussard. Joshua Jr, Anna, Katie, and Ella Seymour - Rhyan, Slade, Tait and Eden Stoker, Gracie, Emma and Shea Seymour, Cannon Faulk and Devin Boyd, and Lily and Daisy Sonnier.

Edward - started his accounting and tax business over 45 years ago - E.W. Seymour & Associates - operating his business with his wife Susan, his daughter Sadie and grandsons Ed III and Beau. Edward was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church, and a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Aline Seymour - his sister Charlotte and sister Mary.

He is survived by two sisters Paula Hickman, Kathleen Feldschau, brothers Travis and wife Debby, Robert and wife Gail and Jimmy Seymour and numerous nieces and nephews. Also survived by his in- laws Bubba and Peggy Roberts, Tommy and Shelia Roberts, Chuck and Cindy Roberts and Wayne and Bobbi Ann Pratt.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday, March 18, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., at Melancon's Funeral Home in Nederland.

I’m so sorry to learn of his death. He was a great man and baseball coach when my kids were little. He just had such a positive impact on the community. He also was a great tax preparer for our family. Some people make a lasting impression for life and Ed was one of them. My sympathy to Susan and their children.

Saddened to hear of Ed’s passing. Ed was the first, and best, friend I made when my family moved to Nederland in 1966. Ed and I were going to join the service together and go in on the “Buddy Plan” so we could serve together. I am also the guy who introduced him to Susan Roberts. Boy did things change when he met Susan, the absolute love of his life! Ed decided to go to college and Uncle Sam decided I needed to go to Viet Nam. We lost touch over the years as “life” happened. The memories I have of Ed, Susan, the Roberts and Seymour families will be with me until the end. Susan, my heartfelt condolences. I love y’all. Bob Washenfelder
