Edward “Ed” C. Steele, 68, of Nederland, Texas, passed away peacefully on the night of Thursday, the 28th of December 2023 with his wife, Susan, of 32 years by his side.

Visitation will be held on Friday, the 5th of January 2024 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, at Melancon-Levingston Funeral Home in Groves, TX. Visitation will continue Saturday, the 6th of January from 11:00 am until time of services at 1:00 pm. Services will be held at Melancon-Levingston Funeral Home, Groves, TX with the Rev. Dr. James Pevehouse, Rector of St. Marks, Beaumont.

He was born in Port Arthur, TX, on the 15th of September 1955, to his parents Rodrick Steele and Iris Steele (McGill). Ed was a devoted husband, caring uncle, and skilled Master Plumber with Local 68 in Houston. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Port Arthur, Class of 1974. After graduating from high school, Ed served in the United States Air Force. Ed enjoyed gardening and reading, as well as fishing and hunting.

Ed is survived by his beloved wife, Susan Steele of Nederland, TX; his nephews and niece, Matthew Fontenot of Houston, TX; Alfred Shaw of Shreveport, LA; Wally Shaw of Dayton, TX; Adriane Stillwell of McAlester, OK; Roddie Steele of Lone Grove, OK; and Richard Steele of Yukon, OK. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law Rod and Janie Steele of Moore, OK; his brother, Neal Steele of Broaddus, TX; his Mother-in-law, Myrna Burrow of Moss Bluff, LA; and his sister-in-law, Jeanie Vail of Moss Bluff, LA.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Rodrick, and Iris Steele; his sister Carol Shaw and her husband Walter Shaw; father-in-law, James H. Burrow, brothers-in-law Walter Shaw, Robert Burrow, and James Burrow, and nephew Carey Fontenot.

Honorary Pallbearers are as listed: Mac Dickens, Mike Fontenot, Wally Shaw, Richard Steele, Roddie Steele, James Matlock, Jim Granger, and Bob Granger. "But in Ed's life these men were his beloved nephews and dearest friends".
