Edwin “Eddie” P. McPherson

1956 ∼ 2021

Edwin “Eddie” P. McPherson, 64, of Port Arthur passed away Saturday, July 17, 2021. Eddie was born August 15, 1956, in Anahuac, Texas to Perry McPherson and Ann McPherson. From the time Eddie was six weeks old until he turned three years old, he lived in Hawaii with his family. He loved fishing, playing video games, swimming, and his animals. He enjoyed spending weekends at the shack in Louisiana and taking summer trips to Colorado. He never turned down a piece of candy or a hamburger from Dairy Queen, and was frighteningly good at trivia. Eddie was a good man. He believed that if you didn’t have anything nice to say, you shouldn’t say anything at all. He was a loving and dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. Eddie was a genuine and sweet soul that will be dearly missed.

Those left behind to cherish Eddie’s memory are his wife of 18 years, Karen McPherson; his mother, Ann McPherson; his children, Jammie Canfield, Kristal Williams and her husband Charles, Michelle Collum, and Nathaniel Frederick and his wife Chandice; his grandchildren, Brandon, Sara, Ethan, Eli, Blake, Jaxon, and Hayden; his sister, Lynn Bucknall and her husband Chris; and his nephews and niece, Brian Bucknall, Elliot Bucknall, Will Bucknall and Holly Bucknall. Edwin is preceded in death by his father, Perry McPherson; and his grandson, Andrew Sharpton.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Monday, July 19, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Melancon’s Funeral Home. A graveside service will take place at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Nederland, Texas on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at 10:00 a.m.

Eddie would have loved if you would donate to pupsinperil.org in his memory.

I love my cousin Eddie. He was such a kind, gentle soul who is going to be greatly missed. I loved his quick wit, infectious laugh and love of family. As his youngest cousin, he always patiently listened as I chattered away. I am so grateful he found Karen to share many wonderful years together. The world was a brighter place with Eddie in it. I feel so blessed and honored that he was my cousin. A share in your grief. May god bless. - Paula

I remember we use to love to stay up late and play games, those were the days, but my fondest memory is when he found Karen. He couldn't stop smiling . He was the happiest I had ever seen him and Karen too. They were so Giddy!!! He has always been kind to me and Brian. Everybody says the same thing about Eddie, "He is the kindest person they ever met" that is the truth!! We Love You Eddie and you left your mark on us. Your Friends, Thank You!!

I think of Eddie every day. We left flowers on his resting place yesterday. Eddie was such a fun person to be around. He is greatly loved and missed.

What I remember most about Eddie was his laugh. He always laughed at my jokes even the ones that weren’t that funny. His laugh always had a way of making me feel better about my day. There were times we would just go on and on busting up. It’s hard to have a bad day after that. - Kris

Eddie was a gift to everyone who knew him. He was the most kind person I have ever known. He was a wonderful father to me and my sisters and a wonderful husband to my mother. The world lost one of the best but his memory will live with me forever. I love you Eddie. Save me a seat.

Papa Eddie was the kindest and most gentle person I ever had the honor to meet. He always treated me like I was his child and of course was his favorite. He loved singing and dancing with my daughter. Talking to my son about whatever he wanted and taking him to the park during our visits. Eddie I could not have asked for a better step-dad. I will always keep our memories close to my heart and keep them alive for my kiddos.

My dear cousin Eddie was one of the kindest of all beings. All Gods creatures were his close friends! He was always helpful and kind to everyone to the best of his ability. Heaven is in awe of his infectious laugh and wonderful humor as we down on Earth are trying to navigate the loss of Eddie in our lives. Heaven has a very special angel! I will love you always! Your cousin Mindy

I learned yesterday of the passing of our friend and fellow member Eddie M. His wife Karen survives him. We all know Eddie was an extremely loving and caring individual. He was unassuming in his relationships and I don’t believe he ever met a stranger. Eddie loved to laugh and his laugh was certainly infectious! I know we will all have fond memories of our conversations with Eddie M. and his God centered message of Hope. Eddie truly earned his Eternity Medallion. 03/10/2008 to 07/17/2021. Rest peacefully dear friend . Eddie passed July 17, 2021 from stage 4 lung cancer and is interred in Port Arthur Texas. Karen has moved to Oklahoma to be near her children.

I am just finding out about this….Eddie was a childhood friend that I grew up with. It’s sad when we lose touch with our past in person. I think of him and his family often as my childhood was truly enriched by this family. So many memories. Fly high Eddie…Peace
