Elbert Burton Black, Jr. or "Bert" as he was called, passed from this life in Silsbee after an illness.
He was 84 years old and lived most of his life in Bridge City.
He was married 55 years to his wife, Barbara. He had three daughters, Debbie Robison and her husband Rod, Renae Randall and her husband John and Laurie Frasier. He had ten wonderful grandchildren, Rodney Robison, Dustin Robison, Danielle Peterson, Rachel Odom, Roxanne Scarborough, Destiny Padgett, Katie Elms, Kyleigh Randall, Lauren Truss-Hall and Daren Frasier. He also had nineteen great grandchildren.
Bert grew up in Port Arthur and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School. He worked as an Electrician with IBEW Local 479 and was a member of the Bridge City Church of Christ.
His hobbies included fishing, CB Radios, electronics and radio control airplanes. He loved to go out to eat with his wife and family and spend time with his grandkids, great grandkids and his beloved cats.
The family is especially appreciative of his second family at Silsbee Oaks Nursing Home who not only took care of him his last few years, but gave him great joy. The family is thankful for all of the friends who made his life so special.
A visitation for family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, July 10, 2021 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Mr. Ron Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves.
