Eli Fred Barker, 87, of Nederland, Texas passed away March 29, 2014. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on July 3, 1926 to the late Fred William and Louella Morgan Barker. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Nederland where he served as a deacon.

Funeral services will be held at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Jason Burden officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.

Eli is preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Lois Lively and Francis Wells; his brother, Oliver Barker; and his grandson, Kohler Barker. He is survived by his wife, Daphne Barker of Nederland; his sons, Joe Barker and wife, Marilois of Evansville, Indiana and David Barker and wife, Joan of Chardon Township, Ohio; 4 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and his brother, Robert L. Barker and wife, Carolyn of Hemphill, Texas.
