Elie Stelly, Jr., 90, of Nederland, Texas passed away Saturday, October 12, 2019 in Nederland, Texas. Elie was born March 20, 1929 in Leonville, Louisiana to Elie Stelly, Sr. and Alice Miller Stelly. He married Marie Lahaye on January 19, 1946. In 1951 he moved to Port Arthur, Texas from Opelousas, Louisiana. He work at Gulfport Shipyard where he was a Repair Superintendent with 26 years of service. He then moved to La Porte to work for New Park Shipyard. In 1983 he opened Stellys Deli & Cajun Food. Due to family illness they moved back to Port Arthur and started a lawn service in the 1980s. A visitation for family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves followed by the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Elie was preceded in death by his parents, Elie, Sr. and Alice Stelly; 3 brothers, Alfred Stelly, Rodney Stelly, and Earl Stelly; sister, Alfreda Zerangue; and grandson, Scott Bergeron. Surviving relatives include his wife of 73 years, Marie Stelly of Nederland, Texas; daughter, Geraldine Pratt and husband Monroe of Groves, Texas; 3 sons, Barry Stelly and wife Sue of Groves, Texas, Steve Stelly and wife Jill of Andover, Minnesota, and Robert Stelly and wife Jana of Nederland, Texas; brother, Howard Stelly of Geismar, Louisiana; 14 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren.
