Elizabeth "Betty" Benton

1925 ∼ 2016

Elizabeth (Betty) Benton was born October 13, 1925, in Port Arthur, Texas, and passed away in Austin, Texas, on December 2, 2016. She was a life-long member of the First Baptist Church in Port Arthur and spent her final three years in a nursing home in Austin. Betty had many long-time friends and co-workers, first at Sears in Port Arthur and later at Schlessinger's Nursing Home in Beaumont, Texas. She loved the Dallas Cowboys and going out to eat with her friends, especially Mexican food. She also loved to dress in bright colors and listen to music. She was devoted to her family, including her mother Elizabeth Claud, her husband Ben Benton, her older son, Gordon Lee Benton, and her younger son Ron Benton and his wife Beverley Braud. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 10, 2016 at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Levingston Funeral Home in Groves. Betty is survived by Ron Benton and his wife Beverley, as well as her beloved dog Lucky. Because of her love for animals, the family is suggesting that in lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).

Mother and I are saddened to hear this news. I have been thinking about her and ended up making sure she had not passed. I was shocked to see this obituary. If I would have known we would have been to her service. She was a wonderful giving Aunt. I really hate that we did not know.
