Elmo Elno East, 90, a native and lifelong resident of Port Arthur, Texas passed away Monday, May 23, 2011. Elmo was born on April 22, 1921 to the late Elvin F. East and the late Myrhl Woodall East. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was employed as a clerk in the Shipping Department at Texaco Inc. where he retired in 1981. Mr. East was an active member of the Word of Life Church in Groves, TX. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 from 5:00p.m.-7:00p.m. at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves. Funeral services will be at 10:00a.m., Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at the funeral home with Pastor David Logan officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Elmo is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Margaret Elizabeth Miller East; brothers, Elvin East, Jr., William East, and Lawrence East; sisters, Inez Erwin and Evelyn Morse. He is survived by his brother, Don East; sisters, Florine Emerson and Allie McKay; sister-in-law, Bea LaRue; and numerous nieces and nephews.

I'm the son of Elvin,Jr. and Suzanne East and Elmo was my Uncle. I'm was saddened to learn about Elmo's passing. I remember when my Dad passed away, he and his wife Margaret had me stay over at their house while arrangemnts for his brother were being made.
