Elva "Sue" Green, a beloved nurse and cherished family member, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2025, in Nederland, Texas, at the age of 87. Born on February 10, 1938, in Paris, Texas, Sue's life was one of unwavering devotion to her family and her profession.
Sue dedicated her career to nursing, serving with compassion and skill at Baptist Hospital in Labor and Delivery. Her commitment to the well-being of mothers and their newborns was evident in the many lives she touched throughout her career. She truly showed her caring nature when she joined the Nederland ISD family as a school nurse and spent 21 years looking after children. Beyond her professional achievements, she was also a long-time member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, where she formed lasting friendships and memories.
A proud matriarch, Sue cherished her family above all else. She is survived by her two loving sons: Keith Blizzard and his wife, Rose Schibelbein, of Kingwood, Texas, and Kory Blizzard and his wife, Leslie Steinbach Blizzard, of Ratcliff, Texas. Her daughter, Kristi Key, resides in Beaumont, Texas. The joy of her life extended to her grandchildren, including Megan Cobb and her husband Charlie, Hannah Key, Micah Key and his wife Addison, Samuel Blizzard, and Zachary Blizzard. Sue also delighted in the company of her great-grandchildren, Ellie Cobb and Eva Cobb, who brought her immeasurable joy.
Among her proudest accomplishments, Sue held the distinguished title of First Queen Mother of the Red Hat Society of Texas, reflecting her vibrant spirit and zest for life. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Romie Hill; her devoted husband, Alton Eugene Green; and her brother, Roy Mack Hill.
The family would like to thank her devoted friend and caregiver of ten years, Wealthy DeJohn, for all the love and compassion she gave Sue. Bunny Loasunberry was a special friend and also was a compassionate caregiver. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for her neighbors, Cindy, Henry, Mina, Daryl, and Destiny.
Sue Green’s legacy of love, compassion, and community service will continue to inspire all those who knew her. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends, who will carry her memory in their hearts forever.
