The thing I remember most about Grandpa is his wonderful smile and great sense of humor. He embraced life and always accepted everyone as a part of his family. He always had great advice to give you only when you asked. I loved his warmness and dancing with him. He LOVED music. He will be greatly missed but his heart and spirit will live on in us forever.

My heart was overwhelmed to read all the kind and comforting words from so many dear friends and relatives. I am sure that you all know how much he loved and cared for all of you. At a time like this we really realize the value of all those warm embraces and kind and comforting words from so many that we hadn't seen in many, many years. We were both blessed by your friendship and good times all through the years. May God bless you all for all the joy you have brought to us and the comfort to me and our family. Love, Davie Burleigh

Dear Brenda, Davie, and Family, May God reach down and wrap his arms around the entire Burleigh Family so they will know how truly blessed they were to have the father and husband that they had. God has to have a special angel every now and then so we will know what true goodness is. Sending my regards and condolences to the entire Burleigh Family. Respectfully, Michael L. Kastning

Mr. Burleigh was a good man. As past President of Spindletop HOA, he got our roads paved, improved drainage, and so much more. He was loved and respected. We will miss you, but your memory lives on. We send our love to the family.

My grandparents, Homer and Oma Reeves, were next door neighbors to the Burleighs on Locust Street in Fairlea Addition in Port Arthur, Texas (the Romeros were their neighbors on the other side; the Prudhommes lived across from the Burleighs). My grandparents both thought the world of the Burleighs. I remember Mr. Burleigh worked for the Port Arthur News, and my grandfather loved being able to walk next door to their home to pick up his newspaper, which he loved reading everyday. They were good neighbors to my grandparents, and over the years I have often wondered how the Burleighs were doing. I was so sorry to hear of Mr. Burleigh's passing. God bless.

Davie (My other mother), Brenda (My Dear Friend and Sister), and family, Heaven has gained another very special angel. Emery was a wonderful man and a great inspiration to me. He had a lovely wife that he adored, and 10 of the most beautiful children I have ever known in my life. Emery really hasn't left us you know, he has just changed his address to Heaven, where he will be waiting for the rest of us to join him at a later date. I so enjoyed visiting with him on our visits to see Brenda and Mark, and I just can't say enough, "What a wonderful man". Heaven is blessed to have him in their brigade of angels. Farewell my FRIEND! See you on the other side! I will continue to pray for the VERY SPECIAL Burleigh Family! Sending Love and Condolences, Michael and Tina Kastning

My heart aches for the loss of my Papa, but I smile at the thought of him entering Heaven's beautiful gates. I think about him meeting Little Teresa after all these years and the big smile on her face to see her daddy. Im so lucky to have grown up right next to my Papa and will hold close to my heart all of our special memories. I love you Papa and can't wait to see you again in Heaven.

As Dad and I listened to soft music at the Hospice, he drifted off and a peaceful look covered his face. I noticed that he had transitioned and had past into Heaven. After a little while, as I was going outside to head home, I was very aware of how nice it was outside. Gentle breeze, half moon shining brightly, how breathtaking, how beautiful it was up there in the sky. There was a large live oak tree with the moon shining its rays through its branches; the stars were shining so bright and the skyline to the southwest of the Hospice went on and on, never ending. And I felt this feeling all over, this comforting feeling that tingled from my head all the way to my toes. I knew at that very moment it was you, Dad, smiling down on me telling me not to worry, that everything was going to be all right. You were a terrific person, husband, father and servant; always wanting to do for others. We will miss you and surely awaiting the time when we will join you in Heaven.

Dad We have so many wonderful memories through out all the years we were blessed to have you here with us. I think we will always remember how much you loved cajun music and how it would fire you up any time you heard it. You couldn't keep still...you had to get up and dance. We loved watching you dance as much as you loved dancing...I will dream of you dancing in Heaven. Your strength and courage have inspired so many people. You made me proud to call you "DAD".

Dear Brenda and Family, May it be a source of inner strength and a special comfort too, to know there is a loving God who is watching over you. That throughout this time of need, He will stay close by your side to help to ease your sorrow. And know that Emery waits for you at Heaven's door and is safe and happy. Our deepest sympathy goes out to all of you. Love, Paula and Bret

Allowing God's powerful Words can offer us peace and strength during our time of grief with the loss of a loved one......Godspeed Uncle Emery... Isaiah 57:1-2 Good people pass away; the godly often die before their time. But no one seems to care or wonder why. No one seems to understand that God is protecting them from the evil to come. For those who follow godly paths will rest in peace when they die.

Randy, Loretta, Brenda and the entire Burleigh family...may you be comforted in these days to come by the loving memories of your father. All our love, Johnny and Margaret

My dearest Burleigh family Emery touched many lives here on earth and will be missed by everyone that knew him. Between his great smile and Davie Lou's smile they lite up a room when a person walked in; as if they were sincerely happy to see you and made a person feel part of their family.--- And Emery charished his family deeply. To my brother-n- law Larrol, my deepest sympathy goes out to you and your family in this letter, which is a very weak expression of all that I am thinking. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. Sincerely, Margie (Davalos) Brock

Davie and Family, I am so sorry for your loss and I Pray for God to send you his Love and Grace. My HEART is saddened that I was not able to say my goodbyes to Emery in person. I hope he felt my Prayers and the Love that I was sending his way!! What a great man Emery was....he raised and held together such a Wonderful Family!! I always love to come visit Brenda and bring homemade goodies. She would always say....let's go see mom and dad and take them some, they love your baking. As soon as we got there and Emery would open the front door he and Davie would light up like the Stars in the Sky. It made us so HAPPY to watch how EXCITED he got....not just for the edible treats, but for our visits to chit chat, laugh and catch up on things...even if it were just for a LITTLE while. As time goes on....I hope you will comfort by the Love and Support from all the Family and Friends!! Love, Susan

He was a caring and kind man who raised a wonderful family. He has been the inspiration of many of us to achieve higher and be nobler than ourselves. God bless you, Uncle Emery, as you join with the angels to celebrate a new eternal life with our Lord. "Well done my good and faithful servant."

Pop (Emery Burleigh) was the best father-n-law I could have ever asked for. We always had a good relationship. He made me feel like one of his own. I could pop in on him and Mom day or night and he always made me feel he was so glad to see me. (Mom did too). I will miss Pop so much, but will cherish ALL THE MEMORIES of him forever. Love you always Pop!
