Emil Oleksy, Sr., 87, of Nederland, Texas passed away on Monday, April 20, 2015 at his residence. He was born on June 29, 1927 in Port Arthur to the late Max Oleksy, Sr. and Frances Dudczyk Oleksy.
Emil graduated from Port Acres High School in 1945. He served in the U.S. Army, obtaining the rank of PFC, during WWII. After the war, Emil graduated from Lamar Tech with an associate’s degree. He worked for Texaco for 34 years as a Field Engineer, and also owned and operated Oleksy Chainsaw Repair. Emil has been a charter member of the Nederland Masonic Lodge #1368 since 1955.
Emil is survived by his sons, Emil Oleksy, Jr. of Nederland, TX, and Matt Oleksy and his wife, Sarah Price Oleksy of Hannibal, MO; grandson, Thomas Emil Oleksy and his wife, Amber; granddaughter, Tamara Gallagher and her husband, Clinton; and great-grandchildren, Thomas Crockett Oleksy and Cutter Edward Gallagher. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 61 years, Bobbie Sue Oleksy; sisters, Helen Ortego, Josephine Anderson, Rose Barclay, and Bertha Keenum; and brothers, Edward Oleksy and Max Oleksy, Jr.
Funeral Services will be held at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland on Friday, April 24, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Wayne Flowers officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches. A gathering of the family and friends will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to First United Methodist Church of Nederland.
