Emmett Gordon Wiesen , 85, of Waco, Texas formerly of Port Arthur, passed away Monday, August 1, 2011. Emmett was born January 29, 1926 in Copperas Cove, Texas to Charlie Martin Wiesen and Millie Ellen Lindsey Wiesen. He was a resident of the Port Arthur area for 63 years before moving to Waco 4 years ago. He was a machinist in the Main Plant and Chemical Plant at Texaco and retired after 40 years of service. Emmett was a longtime member of the United Methodist Temple and Port Arthur VFW Post #797. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, making walking canes, tables and cabinets. Survivors include his wife, Dixie Charrier Wiesen of Waco; three daughters, Pamela Sue Rodgers and husband, Conrad of Marble Falls, Cynthia Louise Jamieson of Austin, Jane Ellen Sharp and husband, David of Waco; one son, E. Brian Wiesen and wife, Carol of League City; two sisters, Chris Busch of Port Arthur and Faye Thibodeaux of Houston; fourteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 5, 2011 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves, Texas with Reverend Jesse Brannen, pastor of the United Methodist Temple officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday evening from 6:00p.m.-8:00p.m. at the funeral home.
