Ernest "Ernie" Lee Eickenhorst, Sr.

Ernest "Ernie" Lee Eickenhorst, Sr., 83, of Nederland, Texas passed away Sunday, September 26, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born in Port Arthur, Texas on October 3, 1937 to Walter Herman Eickenhorst and Mary Mageline Schkade Eickenhorst.

Ernie was a lifelong area resident and member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.

He retired as a Supervisor from Texaco after 41 years of service.

A visitation for family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 30, 2021 at St. Paul

Lutheran Church, now known as Peace Lutheran Church, 5801 W. Jefferson, Groves, Texas. Funeral

services will follow at 11:30 a.m. with Reverend Tim Dinger officiating. Burial will be in Oak Bluff Memorial Park.

Serving as pallbearers will be: Dr. Julius Eickenhorst, Eric LoCicero, Chad Eickenhorst, Darrell Hardy, Michael Kasper, Mike Joachim, Carl Abshire and Wayne Jackson. Honorary pallbearers: Kenneth Eickenhorst, Gilbert Kasper, Norris Abshire and James Dufour.

Ernie is survived by his wife of 65 years, Caroline Joachim Eickenhorst of Nederland, Texas daughter, Mary Hardy and husband Clay of Groves, Texas, son, Ernest Eickenhorst, Jr. and wife Becky of Lumberton, Texas, brothers, Kenneth Eickenhorst and wife Ruth of San Antonio, Texas and Dr. Julius Eickenhorst and wife Susan of Austin, Texas, grandchildren, Eric LoCicero and wife Janna, Chad Eickenhorst and wife Katie, Michelle Hardy and Darrell Hardy, great grandchildren, Lauren LoCicero, Katie LoCicero, Dylan Eickenhorst and Hayden Eickenhorst.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Margie Kasper.

I always remember Ernie and Caroline. They both were so good to my mom. I have a special place in my heart for both of them. My thoughts and prayers are with Caroline and the kids during this difficult time. May you find comfort in your memories. Love you!!!

Ike was a very good friend with many years of service with Texaco in the Product Control Lab. I very much regret that I was unable to attend his funeral service due to my own medical problems. My sympathy goes to his family. In Christian love, Jerry Sheridan

I graduated with Ernie From PNG in 1955. I will miss seeing him at the monthly class luncheons. Ernie was one of the GOOD GUYS. Caroline and Ernie were school sweethearts and had a wonderful marriage. I know she will miss him most of all. R.i.P. Ernie. We all loved you 💜
