The Earth has lost one of its truly blessed souls, but Heaven has gained. Erney was one of the most influential people in my life and I am better person for what he taught me. If I learned only one thing from him it was that no matter what God places in front of you, a positive mind and strong heart will overcome all. I am proud to say that I am one of Erney's many Eagle Scouts. My accomplishments in life, I can truly say were influenced deeply by him. Melba, I hold you and your family in my prayers.

For many kids in town he was the only father figure they ever knew. For his own kids, he was the loving father that was always standing by their side. And for his loving wife he was the world in her heart....he will be missed but never forgotten.

It is a sad time for me and other ICS classmates of Erney's. Eight years' attendance of daily Mass, curriculum and sports was time well spent developing relationships with God, self and others. A friend to all even back then, we spoke recently about those days, and his family and their memorable camping trips. I told him how proud I was of him, especially for the untiring practice of spiritual and corporal works of mercy throughout his life. Divine Mercy is now his reward. He was a scoutmaster and a master scout.
