Ethel Mary Darbonne, 89, of Nederland, Texas passed away Thursday, May 28, 2020 at Oak Grove Nursing Home. Ethel was born December 10, 1930 in Mamou, Louisiana to Enoice and Pauline Richard. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Ethel was a faithful member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. She was supportive and a great listener, with a gentle and caring heart. Ethel enjoyed sewing for many years.
Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, Enoice Richard and Pauline Dupre Ardoin; husband, Charles Darbonne; siblings, Lester Richard, Sylvan Ardoin and Armile Ardoin; granddaughter, Rebecca Darbonne.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her children, Ricky Darbonne and his wife, Shana; Sarah Smith and her husband, Jonathan; Mark Darbonne; David Darbonne; 6 grandchildren; sister, Juanita Spell.
A gathering of friends and family will be held Monday, June 1, 2020 from 8:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., with the Funeral Service to begin at 10:30 a.m., at Melancon’s Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Memory Garden’s Cemetery in Nederland.
