Ethel M. (Rebert) Harris, 86, of Port Arthur, Texas passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at her residence. She was born at St. Mary’s Hospital in Port Arthur on April 16, 1929 to the late Albert Joseph Rebert and Antonia Boutte Rebert. Mrs. Harris was a Mobile Home Park Owner.
Mrs. Harris was a devoted family member. She loved her son, Brian, more than anything. She loved all of her nieces and nephews. Mrs. Harris and her sister, Ruby were avid card players and she loved to go to the casinos. She enjoyed watching the birds and has been known to take stray ones in now and then. Mrs. Harris loved to cook, before she fell ill you could go to her kitchen on a daily basis and find good home cooked food. Ethel loved a good game of Bourre’ with her friends and family. She loved the family dog, “Parker”, she always called him “Harper” and he did not mind, he came to her and loved on her unconditionally. Ethel not only loved her family, but she loved helping her community. She would volunteer and fundraise for the Hughen School in Port Arthur. It was nothing to go to a restaurant and people would stop to say hello and she would greet them with a beautiful smile. She loved to joke around, she was an avid prankster. Ethel loved to dress up, it was stated what an “extremely classy woman” she was.
Mrs. Harris is survived by her son, Brian Budwine and his wife, Julie of Port Arthur; sister, Ruby Guidry of Port Arthur; granddaughter, Conner Budwine; step-grandchildren, Christopher Logsdon, Michael Logsdon, and Misty Lukefahr; great-grandchildren, Caiden Budwine, Anthony Logsdon, Colton Lukefahr, Kylee Lukefahr, Onna Logsdon, and Alex Logsdon; nieces and nephews, Glenda Meaux and husband, Jimmy, Clinton Rebert and wife, Geraldine, Barbara Jean Little and fiancé, Richard, Louis Baker, Judy Faye Jones and husband, David, Charolette Magannus and husband, Pat, Gail Terry and husband, Ronnie, Ty Holtzclaw, Rob Holtzclaw and wife, Lorraine, George “Junior” Rebert and wife, Linda, Farrell Rebert and wife, Peggy, Tonja Ann Lackey and husband, Darrell, David Rebert and wife, Margaret, Albert “A.J.” Joseph Rebert and wife, Chris, and Jamie Lynn Tyler and husband, Jeff.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold E. Harris; son, Ryan Romero; brothers, Earl Rebert and George Mickey Rebert; sisters, Hazel Holtzclaw and Joyce Pellerin; and nephew, Samuel “BoBo” Holtzclaw.
A Memorial Service with a Rosary will be on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at 4:00pm at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland, Texas with Father Rejimon E. George, officiant. A gathering of family and friends will begin at 3:00pm until service time.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in her name.
