Eulice Joseph “EJ” Venable, 91, of Port Neches, passed away Friday, September 23, 2016. He was born June 30, 1925 in Vinton, LA to the late Eulice Venable and Alida Moore Venable. He served his country in the United States Army 29 th Infantry Division 115th I.R. (Infantry Regiment) 1st Battalion Company B. during WW II. He was one of the first soldiers to land at Normandy.
He is preceded in death by his first wife of 38 years, Estelle Foux Venable and their only child, Merida Lynn Venable Sanders; brothers, Dozia “Joe” Venable, Malyes Venable and James Venable; sisters, Irene Zyrangue and Mildred Foux.
He is survived by his loving wife, Nellen D. Venable of Port Neches; sister, Yvonne Aiena; grandsons, John Sanders and Donnie Sanders; granddaughter, Sherry McCollum; 6 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service with full Military Funeral Honors was held on Monday, September 26, 2016 at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches, TX under the direction of Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland, TX.
