Eva Thelma Turner, born on Father’s Day, June 15, 1927, left us to be with the Lord on November 25, 2014. She leaves her loving husband, Jessie L. Turner, with which she spent the last 25 peaceful and happy years. Thelma was born on the family farm in Pine Prairie, LA, just outside of Big Mamou. She was a “people person” and had dear friends here and in Alexandria, LA, where she ran a large business for many years.
Thelma was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Nederland. She was a member of the Altar Society. She was one of 13 children born on the family place of which her dearest baby sister, Betty Hunt of Alexandria, survives. Stories of her accomplishments and struggles could fill many pages and her absence will always be felt by those who love her.
She is also survived by her sons, Dr. Wilton A. Guillory, Jr. and wife, Connie of Alexandria; Paul “Gene” Guillory and wife, Elizabeth of Bandera, TX and her daughter, Pamela Ann Guillory of Telluride, CO. Thelma has six grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are her beloved step-daughter, Debbie and husband, Talbert Loyd of Oak Ridge North, TX. Jessie’s loving, sister, Jo Ann and husband, Gene Butler of Nederland and dearest neighbors Pat and Dianne Jennings, who held a special place in Thelma’s life, always there for Thelma and Jessie with love and support.
