Everett "E.W." Sweeney
Everett "E.W." Sweeney, a beloved member of the community, passed away on March 17, 2024, at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas in Port Arthur. He was born in Port Arthur, Texas on May 16, 1949.
“E. W.” was known not only for his warm and compassionate nature but also for his dedication to education and fraternal organizations. Throughout his life, E. W. was a proud member of the Masonic Lodge and the Eastern Star. He found great joy in serving others and participating in various charitable activities within these organizations. E. W. was president of the Beaumont Bridge Club. He and Alta were avid square dancers, holding many local club, Golden Triangle and State offices.
E. W. will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife, Alta Sweeney; daughter, Rebecca Sweeney McDaniel of Groves, Texas; sons: Everett John Sweeney (Kari) of Groves, Texas, Thomas McDaniel of Willis, Texas, and Charles McDaniel of Port Arthur, Texas; grandchildren: Caelen McDaniel, Keana McDaniel, Kirsty Crowson (Cody), Brooke McDaniel (fiancé - Brody Thomas), Paige McDaniel, Destinie Smith (Tre), Donovan Sweeney, Dakota Sweeney, Dante Sweeney, D'Kayla Sweeney, Danika Sweeney, Dezra Sweeney, Damascus Sweeney, Declan Sweeney, Decimus Sweeney, DeMia Sweeney, and Jessica Koons; great-grandchildren (seven in number); and his brother, Robert Wayne Sweeney (Lois) of Groves, Texas.
E.W. was preceded in death by his parents: Everett Sweeney Sr. and Lorena Miller Sweeney, sister, Dorothy Schneider, and a great-grandson, Dominick McDaniel.
A visitation honoring Everett's life will take place at the First Baptist Church in Port Neches on March 30th from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM followed by a Memorial Service at 2:00 pm. The address for the church is 1900 Magnolia Ave in Port Neches. In remembrance of Everett "E.W." Sweeney's life and legacy, let us carry forward his spirit of kindness and dedication to others. He touched the hearts of many and leaves behind a legacy that will be cherished forever. May he rest in peace.
