Faye Smith Henry, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven on August 2, 2014. Faye was born in Port Arthur on August 20, 1921, to Douglas and Minnie Smith. She lived most of her life in Port Arthur before moving to Nederland and later to Kingwood. Faye was a member of the United Methodist Temple and enjoyed prior years serving on the Park Place Hospital Auxiliary. Faye was a loving and devoted wife to her husband and Port Arthur dentist, Dr. Vernon James Henry, Sr., prior to his passing in 1990. Also preceding her in death were brothers, Mervin Smith and Floyd Smith, and step-son Dr. Vernon James Henry, Jr. Left to cherish her memory are son Stephen Henry and wife Dianne of Kingwood, daughter Stephanie Deitz and husband Billy of Nederland, grandchildren Bryan Henry and wife Brittany, Megan Kimmons and husband Sam, Christan Deitz, Cody Deitz and wife Kristin, and step-grandchildren Jeff Henry, Carolyn Rader and husband Jeff, and Leslie Henry. Faye's passions were her family and her "doggies." Her sweet, joyful spirit, sense of humor, and positive attitude prevailed in spite of her declining health. She loved life, enjoyed the simple things, and she will be forever in our hearts. A visitation for family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Adam Muckleroy officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family would like to express their gratitude to Scedonia McLain and Amy Allen for their faithful care and love during their mother's final years in Nederland. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the United Methodist Temple, 4101 Hwy 73, Port Arthur TX 77642 or Nutrition and Services for Seniors, 4590 Concord Road, Beaumont TX 77703.
