Flois Howard, 91, of Groves, Texas passed away December 28, 2010 at Oakwood Manor Nursing Home in Vidor, Texas. She was born September 29, 1919 in Utica, Mississippi to the late Charles E. and Mattie Mae Adams Chapman. She attended Hines Jr. College in 1939 and Lamar University in 1978 where she received a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. She was the secretary of the Port Arthur Association of Retail Grocers and also served as Executive Director. She taught school her whole life and was or of the Beaumont Remedial Clinic then after it closed she opened and owned the Individualized Learning Services where she taught school for children with learning disabilities. She was a member of Pathways Ministry in Vidor and Woodman of the World.She is the loving mother of Bob Howard of Bridge City and Sue Barber of Vidor cherished grandmother of 5 grandchildren and 7 greatgrandchildren.A gathering of family and friends will be held at Melancon39s Funeral Home, 1605 Avenue H, Nederland from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 30, 2010. Funeral services will be held at Melancon39s Funeral Home Friday, December 31, 2010 at 10:00 a.m., Rev. C. J. Cleveland and Rev. Ron Walling officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.
