Flora Belle Prejean Theriot September 1, 1925 to November 16, 2010 On November 16, 2010 Flora Belle Prejean Theriot, 85, went to be with her Lord and Savior. She passed away at her home in Port Neches surrounded by her cherished family. Flora was born at St. Mary Hospital in Port Arthur, Texas, to Whitney Joseph Prejean and Inez Hebert Prejean. She attended St. Mary's grammar school and graduated from Thomas Jefferson Senior High School in 1942. After graduation, she attended Port Arthur College receiving a certificate in secretarial studies. She then worked at the Boy Scouts of America office in downtown Port Arthur. During this period, as a talented pianist, she accompanied her close friend vocalist, Camela Dionne on a regular KPAC radio program and provided music during intermissions at the Strand movie theater. Flora married Charles Roy Theriot on June 30, 1945, a marriage that lasted 63 years. They had two daughters, Marilyn Kay and Donna Lynn. Flo greatly enjoyed her role as wife, mother and homemaker. She loyally supported Roy and the girls in all of their many involvements. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed entertaining. Flo loved family and loyally kept in touch with relatives on all sides. All who knew Flo knew of her great love of music and dancing. She and Roy enjoyed dancing and traveling throughout their life together. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, November 19, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church with Reverend Monsignor Bennie Patillo officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a Vigil Service from 5:00 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, November 18, 2010 at Levingston Funeral Home in Port Neches. Survivors include: daughter, Marilyn Greene and fianc Dave Neel of Nederland, granddaughter Jessica and great granddaughter Niki of Denton; daughter and son-in-law Donna and Jim Wade, and granddaughter Kelly of Port Neches; brother and sister-in-law Donald and Judy Prejean, their daughters Sharon, Linda, and Janet and their families of the Dallas/Fort Worth area. The family wishes to offer a very special thanks to her devoted caregivers: Stephanie Bush, Louise Norman, Yolanda Tatman, Alberta Conner, Bertha Hartwell, Ada Dicario, Mary Balque, the Doctors and staff at Baptist Hospital and the staff of Odyssey Hospice. In lieu of flowers, requests for memorial donations may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association.
