Florene "Flo" Stanton

1932 ∼ 2025

Florene Marie Stanton, affectionately known as Flo, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2025, in Port Arthur, Texas. Born on August 22, 1932, in Franklin, Pennsylvania, she lived a life filled with love, adventure, and purpose.

Flo dedicated a significant portion of her life to her career as a secretary for the Port Arthur Independent School District, a role from which she retired in 2000. Her unwavering commitment to her work and her ability to make everyone feel welcome and loved were hallmarks of her character.

A member of the Temple, Flo embraced her faith and community, sharing her warmth and kindness with those around her. Her adventurous spirit took her across the globe, with London stealing her heart as her favorite travel destination.

She was a proud mother to her sons, Mark Stanton and his wife, Kathy of Nederland; Glen Stanton of Utah; and Scott Stanton of Port Arthur. Flo also cherished the love of her fur babies, Buddy and Fuzz Butt, who provided her companionship and joy.

Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, William, Ana, Emily, Zack, and Renee, as well as her great-grandchildren, Eli, Sophia, Alexander, Madelyn, Samantha, Luis, Jamie, and Zack, and her great great grandchildren, Evangeline and Julian, Jr.  Each of them carries a piece of Flo's loving spirit.

Flo was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 25 years, William Gene Stanton, as well as her parents, Bernard and Cleo Baumcratz. Their memories live on through the many lives she touched with her kindness.

The visitation for Florene Marie Stanton will be held on April 23, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service beginning at 11:00 AM, at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home,  5601 39th St, Groves, Texas, 77619.  Following the funeral service, a graveside service will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park.

Flo will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her, her vibrant spirit and unconditional love leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of her family and friends.
