Floyd Maxilas Crum, PHD

Floyd Maxilas Crum PHD, 96, of Fannett, Texas passed away Friday, August 3, 2018. He was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on April 28, 1922 to the late George Messaneous Crum and Pearl Beulah Carpenter Crum. Floyd was a member of First Baptist Church in Fannett. He was the department chair of the Electrical Engineering Department at Lamar University and taught at LSU. Floyd was a member of the Texas Board of Engineers.

Those left to cherish Floyd’s memory are his daughter, Bettie Price and her husband, Ronnie of Hamshire; his sons, George Thomas Crum of Florida, Richard Floyd Crum of Seabrook, and David Alan Crum of Nederland; numerous grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty Mae Crum; and his son, James Timothy Crum.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland on Sunday, August 5, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church in Fannett on Monday, August 6, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.

Dr. Crum was our choir director at Rosedale Baptist Church for years. He encouraged me to play the church organ at 11 years old. What a great Christian man.
