Frances Parker Boutte, 88, went home to be with her Lord and maker with grace and dignity on March 9, 2010 with those who loved her deeply at her side. Frances was born in Trinity, Texas on June 30, 1921 to Ethel and Dan Parker. Her parents instilled in her a strong sense of faith, morality, love, compassion, and hard work. She earned a bachelor's degree in home economics from Sam Houston State Teachers College. During her college years, Frances played in the Bearcat Band, where she met the love of her life, Guy Boutte. Upon graduation, Frances taught home economics in Willis and Trinity until she married Guy in 1942 at which time they made Port Arthur their home. Frances devoted her life to God, her husband, and her family. She was a talented homemaker, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and energetic volunteer. Frances shined while cooking, sewing, knitting, and gardening. Family was the center of her life. Entertaining at their weekend camp on Cow Bayou and at their warm, loving home is a gift she shared with her family and friends often. Family vacations were a yearly event as well. Guy and Frances and their two children traveled three to four weeks throughout the continental United States and Canada each year. Their participation in Mardi Gras was another annual highlight. Frances also participated in Camp Fire, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Little League, and PTA while her children were growing up. She was very active in the Sabine Dental Auxiliary serving as an officer both locally and at the state level. Frances' strong faith and love for God were demonstrated in her many years of service and commitment to St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she and Guy were charter members. In addition, her countless Altar Society activities showed Frances' dedication to her community and God. Frances was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Dr. Edmond Guy Boutte. She was the loving mother of Ann Boutte of Port Arthur and Ed Boutte and wife, Joan, of Plano, Texas. She was the cherished grandmother of Sean Healey and wife, Becky, of Beaumont, Deborah Healey Drago and husband, Phil, of Port Arthur, and Kathryn Boutte of Plano. She was the joyous great-grandmother of Reagan, Ryan, and Grant Healey and Abigail, Matthew, and Michael Drago of Port Arthur. She was the devoted sister of Dorothy Parker Callahan of Bryan, Texas. Frances and her family would like to thank her special friend and angel, Carol Toland, for her love and compassionate care. Carol, along with Odyssey Hospice, helped our loved one pass from this world to heaven with respect, dignity, and respite care only they could give. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 12th at 1:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Port Arthur with Reverend Stephen McCrate officiating. Private interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery under the direction of Levingston Funeral Home of Groves. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5:00 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 11th with a Scriptural Rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. at the mortuary. Friends wishing to send memorial contributions may do so to the Port Arthur Historical Society or St. Joseph Catholic Church.
